Gender Stereotyping Women – A Defect In Our Society
We live in a patriarchal society where women are looked upon and not considered as an equal human being.
It has been over seven decades since we had our independent lives and treating women without sexualizing is really a problem which needs to be taken seriously.
Women have reached moon, but still having women as a “housewife” is a preferred by most of the men in India.
How does being married affect a job requirement, and for only women?
Why do women still get unequal wages for the same amount of work done?
Why do you think that a woman got to be in a higher position than you are in, because she is a ‘woman’?
Why do you think it is easy for women to get a job?
Why do you think every woman wants to marry and live off her husband?
Gender stereotyping can be a real pain.
People should start looking at a woman not as a woman but as an individual. An individual just like you are.
A pair of breasts doesn’t help you get to places. Hard work does.
It is not okay to generalize and speak about women in power.
Every one works to have a roof over their head and food on their table. It doesn’t matter if it is a man or a woman. Everyone faces the same amount of difficulties, women may face more too.
One female president, one prime minister, 9% MLA’s , 12.2% MP’s later, we still lag behind. Women are making an effort to emerge, to have their own individual identity.
Rather than paving a way for them, just let them do it themselves. Let them decide their own career choices!!
