Eat your favorite treats & still be healthy – this HOLI !!
Holidays and festivals are the times that we tend to over indulge in food and let ourselves go completely. While a treat once in a while is necessary to keep us sane, we must be careful not to cultivate a habit out of it.
Holi is right around the corner and we have some wonderful treats lined up just for you.
Holi is just not about colours but also masala kachoris, and gujiyas too. Plan this vibrant festival with some of the toothsome treats.
Gujiyas
Holi is known for its best rajasthani foods “gujiyas”. Gujiyas are sweet dough wrapped and filled with sweet mixture of your desired taste, like – coconut, dry fruits, chocolate. Anything sweet of your desired choice can be used as stuffing ,can be fried and then dipped in sugar syrup.
Thandai
Thandai is a mandatory drink during this festival of colours. Thandai consists of milk mixed with spices as well as almonds. The sip of the drink which contains good amount of spices like cardamom, saffron and pepper relishes you with a sense of heaven.
Malpua
Malpua is also a well known food item, and this time you can make it healthy by skipping the deep-frying part and cook them with the least amount of ghee or clarified butter. You can have them just as is or you can also use rabdi as a topping option.
Dahi Vada
Just thinking about it, makes my mouth water. Holi is incomplete with a bite of Dahi Vada. Balls made of gram flours with overflowing yogurt with masala and turmeric toppings, savour it all in and the sharp taste will place you in heaven.
These are some of the healthy recipes and pig out this holi and eat a lot. Don’t worry, since these are all healthy, except hold back eating sugar items, or rather use healthy options like jaggery, than sugar.
Stay healthy even by eating all these yummy items and let us know your favourite.
The key is not to over indulge. 🙂
